Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the performing arts, that are now known to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly be a qualifier for her place in the "child prodigy" category. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons placed second from a family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen was an athletic natural and enjoyed playing tough sports. Additionally she was gifted for acting. She took home almost every Feis Award for Theater and Drama the country could offer. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
